Disrespect, Dishonor to authority and Its consequences
Respect and honor are values deeply rooted in Scripture, but what happens when they are ignored? Ham’s story is a sobering example of how a single act of disrespect, dishonor to authority led to Its consequences for generations. His mistake wasn’t just a moment of dishonor—it revealed a deeper issue of the heart. What can we learn from his downfall, and how does it apply to our lives today? Let’s dive into this biblical warning and its powerful lessons.
“And Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard. And he drank the wine and became drunk, and he was uncovered and lay naked in his tent.
Ham, the father of Canaan, glanced at and saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside.
So Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon the shoulders of both, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.
When Noah awoke from his wine, and knew the thing which his youngest son had done to him, He exclaimed, CURSED BE CANAAN! HE SHALL BE THE SERVANT OF SERVANTS TO HIS BRETHREN!”
Genesis 9:20-25 (AMPC)
The sin of Ham is whatever you do wrong to fathers and those who have the authority over you that warrants them or stirs them to place a curse or a series of curses on you. If this ever happens, it short circuits your ministerial flow, success will become scarce, the grace of God will seem not to be sufficient, mercy will elude you and your hard work and labor will be unprofitable. This is a serious issue.
Ham found the nakedness of his father (I would like to be figurative at this point), he discovered a fault, a weakness of his father. Guess what he did, he exposed it in an unwarranted manner, he mocked it and probably insulted the person of his father. His father Noah, a man of God found out and placed a curse on him, it’s a curse of being dishonorable to his father. The bible says.
“The curse causeless shall not come”
Proverb 26:2 (KJV)
Consider the curse Noah a man of God placed on his biological child, spiritual child or one who serves under a senior in ministry and in the Lord.
“He exclaimed, cursed be Canaan! He shall be the servant of servants to his brethren!”. Genesis 9:25
When you do what is wrong, especially the sin of acting dishonorably to a father in any respect, you expose yourself to a curse that has the capacity and ability to cripple your potential, restrict your movement, slow down your speed, frustrate your grace, disgrace your calling and probably end your ministry. Look at what God placed on anyone who dishonors their father!
Dear servant of God are you sober because of the Disrespect, Dishonor to authority and Its consequences that await you because of how you spoke to your biological parents?. Are you due for a curse because of how you dishonorably related to those who had the authority over you on earthly matters?.
Are you due for a curse because of how you badly behaved, treated and esteemed your relationship with your father in the Lord or his belonging or what he entrusted in your care?. However, there are other things you can do to those who have the rule over you that places an automatic curse over your life, ministry or endeavors, this will have a very negative impact on your ministry in whatever expression it chooses to take.
Two of those things you can do that make a curse pursue you and overtake you are:
1. Cursed is he who moves [back] his neighbor’s landmark. All the people shall say, Amen. Deuteronomy 27:17 (AMPC)
When you steal the members who attend the church or ministry of anyone you once submitted to, when you do this certainly in a mischievous way, you are due for a curse.
When you forcefully take over a ministry that isn’t rightfully or legally given to you, you are due for a curse.
When you take over properties no matter how small or insignificant it is, when you steal from those who used to be fathers and leaders to you, you are due for a curse. I can go on and on.
2. “Cursed is he who slays his neighbor secretly. All the people shall say, Amen.” Deuteronomy 27:24
When you secretly abuse those who have the rule over you, you are due for a curse.
When you privately criticize those who are over you in the Lord, you are due for a curse.
When you gossip against and tell lies about or against your Father in the Lord, you are due for a curse.
Whatever you did within these lines makes you due for a curse, whether you reject it, speak in tongues, bind it or do deliverance, the curse shall come.
Therefore, dear servant of God, avoid anything that will place a curse over your life and directly or indirectly affect the growth, success and prosperity or posterity of your ministry.
