Ministry is based on knowledge
“A ministry without knowledge is like a lamp without oil—it may look the part, but it won’t shine for long. God’s work requires wisdom, study, and understanding.”

For the lips of the priest should guard and preserve knowledge [of My law], and the people should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 2:7 AMP
Knowledge should be the hallmark of anyone who claims to want to be or already is in the ministry. Still, it is shocking when we see ministers who have no value for knowledge; they lack the interest to get adequate and credible knowledge. Don’t base your ministry solely on the “Lord says,” “the Lord showed me,” and “the Lord revealed this to me” (as important as this is). There is a place for the systematic infusion of knowledge.
You ought to be the citadel of biblical knowledge.
You ought to be an expert in the interpretation of biblical text.
You ought to be a crusader for people, congregants, and fellow ministers buying good, informative, and credible books, lled with accurate knowledge of biblical doctrines, early church fathers’ history, and all.
Consider what God says about His servant in this regard.
“True instruction was in Levi’s mouth and injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from wickedness.” Malachi 2:6 AMP
The reason why there are a lot of shallow ministers is just the fact that they are more charismatic than educated. They are more Pentecostal than biblical. Many of us are running with a fourth generation of hearsay and make-believe. We lack a proper foundation of logical, biblical beliefs.
Seeking knowledge is a character trait; it’s a habit that must be developed. In fact, God forbids His servants to be illiterate in any form. A minister who has a detest for knowledge shows a serious unseriousness concerning his commitment to service in the house of God.
A minister who is not invested in education becomes a joke.
A minister who is not invested in learning becomes a caricature.
A minister who is not invested in relearning will become outdated.
A minister who is learning amiss is a dangerous one.
We must love to learn.
We must pursue education in important aspects of practical and ministry work.
We must invest in buying books, taking courses, attending seminars, and any form of education that is bound to improve our minds and ministry.
A minister who is not into education is an anomaly and a dangerous person. Don’t appoint such a person to any level of leadership; don’t keep them close to those you hope to have a future in the work in your hands. Mental slothfulness is a sin.
