”And don’t tell me that I have no authority to write like this. I’m perfectly free to do this—isn’t that obvious? Haven’t I been given a job to do? Wasn’t I commissioned to this work in a face-to-face meeting with Jesus, our Master? Aren’t you yourselves proof of the good work that I’ve done for the Master? Even if no one else admits the authority of my commission, you can’t deny it. Why, my work with you is living proof of my authority!” 1 Corinthians 9:1-2 MSG 3.
1.There are some people who have tried to do a serious mind-bending job against the leadership of your ministry. If time is not taken, and you succumb to that, you might lose your ministry due to overcarefulness not to be tagged as a false servant of God.
I remember some years back, I read a book by Kenneth .E. Hagin, where he said the lord was not pleased with him because the lord had called him rst, as a prophet, but due to the happenings in the body of Christ, which is still going on, in regards false prophets and their unethical and unbiblical way of doing things, he started refraining from calling himself a prophet, he said he didn’t want the bad name to affect him or his ministry. The lord wasn’t pleased with this.
My point is, there are people who would try to twist and distort your rights, responsibilities and roles as God’s servants towards his people. They would try to talk and interpret your words and actions as one who have been overly controlling, manipulative or whatever. Don’t fall for the trick of the devil.
Don’t let people say, the reason why you are against people leaving your local assembly is because only cults behave that way, don’t allow them to use such wicked words to describe a godly attitude. As my father always says, IT’S NOT A CULT, IT’S A FAMILY. Don’t let them say, you are too controlling, because, you insist this is the way, the Bible way a believer is to act. Don’t forget, the church is to be taught the way they must behave even within the local assembly. IT’S NOT ABUSE OF POWER, IT IS THE RIGHT USE OF AUTHORITY.
Don’t let wicked and biased people misrepresent your intentions which weakens your resolve, don’t let them make you lose your rightful position, don’t allow them use all sorts of wicked words to make you relegate your divine position and leadership over the ocks God has made you an overseer.
2. ELEVATING A PERSON INTO PROMINENT LEADERSHIP TOO QUICKLY
”Putting a fool in a place of honor is like setting a mud brick on a marble column.” Proverbs 26:8 MSG
When it comes to your ministry, be careful to not be too hasty, and too condent that you appoint and bring close, an unproven person into leadership. You might not know the damage it would cause, however many who have done this have lived to tell a bitter tale of arrogance, betrayal and rebellion.
If your ministry will thrive within the rst 10 years, then, you can not be sloppy about leadership, STRUCTURE IS PROCESS.
Don’t forget. If there is one thing I regret doing in the earliest years of my ministry, it is being too naive and too friendly to bring in people who did not go through the process, although they were charismatic, zealous and skillful, yet, it was a great poison that gradually spread all through my ministry. By the time I was going to cut it out, it has affected a great section of my ministry. He that has ear, let him hear.
3. DON’T SPREAD OUT QUICKLY, TOO THIN
”The people who remain in Judah will be like strong plants that put their roots down into the ground. Their branches will give lots of fruit.” Isaiah 37:31 EASY
One of the mistake that can cause irreparable damage to a young ministry is being too hasty to spread out, that it robs the ministry of the strength of stamina, loyalty, nancial and numerical advantage.
Many start branches out of competition, others, out of a deluded mentality that it would bring in more growth, some others, out of indebtedness to an individual member, we appoint them as associate pastors, just to keep them quiet and around in the ministry.
This spell woes. You should be careful of carrying certain responsibilities, especially church branching on a shoulder that is still trying to nd its footing and establish its presence. Here, the scripture tells us the standard of having a church branch. It says: “Strong plants that put their roots down into the ground, their branches will give lots of fruit”.
In essence, it is after your ministry, the message, the leadership, the structure, the mantle and anointing, have taken roots downward, into the hearts and minds of your members through discipleship and discipline, that is when it can assuredly grow branches with a lot of fruits in it.
