Contend By Overcoming Your Fears
The next day as the three travelers were approaching the town, Peter went out on the balcony to pray. It was about noon. Peter got hungry and started thinking about lunch. While lunch was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw the skies open up. Something that looked like a huge blanket lowered by ropes at its four corners settled on the ground. Every kind of animal and reptile and bird you could think of was on it. Then a voice came: “Go to it, Peter—kill and eat.” Peter said, “Oh, no, Lord. I’ve never so much as tasted food that was not kosher.” THE VOICE CAME A SECOND TIME: “IF GOD SAYS IT’S OKAY, IT’S OKAY.” This happened three times, and then the blanket was pulled back up into the skies.”
Acts 10:9-16 (MSG)
When it comes to contending with the enemy in battle, you must be willing to try new things that could sometimes challenge the culture, question your philosophy, correct your logic, stretch your limits and drive you to unfamiliar fields. Peter, also came to a point that if he must break through and accomplish great things for God, possess new territories for the kingdom of God, enter a new harvest field, and begin a cross-cultural itinerary ministry, he must overcome his foundational biases and learn to soar above his fears.
Likewise, you cannot contend with an enemy that is flexible, adjustable, and willing to try new strategies and technology while YOU are still trying to argue if A. I (Artificial Intelligence) is of God or the devil, if social media is a godly platform to carry out ministry, if using secular influencers to advertise ministry is spiritually ethical or not, the enemy has long jumped on the bandwagon and is causing commotion on the air space. I like what God told Peter and what he is telling you now
The voice came a second time: “If God says it’s okay, its okay.’’
Did you read that clearly? Let me repeat it again “If God says it’s okay, it’s okay. It’s that simple, If God tells you to close down all your branches and bring them all together, then IT’S OKAY If God tells you to start online church even though your physical attendance is still struggling, then IT’S OKAY.
Whatever strategy and plan God gives you, then IT’S OKAY.
Don’t try teaching God his job because of your fears and biases!. I remember when the lord asked us to put our books online and market them, I reasoned it away because of my previous attempt to put our books online and market it, it failed, we fell into the hands of people who had the talk, brand but lacked the work experience, the corresponding results we were looking for.
So when the Lord instructed us to take the new territory of online book publishing and marketing, I resisted it with a level of fear, bias and excuses.
