Evangelism, Follow-Up And Missions
“Evangelism is just the beginning — true impact comes through Follow-Up And Missions. Discover how to sustain the harvest!”
“So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.”
Acts of Apostle 2:36-41 NLT
From time immemorial, the church of our Lord Jesus has been known to be evangelistic, this precedence started from the first-century church. It became part of the custom of the church to go from door to door, with members of the same congregation of our Lord Jesus Christ, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, calling men to repentance and sharing with them the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. This has, and will always be an integral part of the local church.
“And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah”.
Acts of the Apostles 5: 42 NLT
Someone once said, “The life of the church is missions and evangelism”. What happens when the local church is unable to evangelize? What happens when individual believers, find it comfortable to bash others on social media, debating and insulting fellow believers on the premise of doctrine via social media rather than actually doing productive biblical evangelism?
In this piece, I will discuss the importance of inculcating evangelism and follow-up into the structure of the church by creating workable systems that helps with the seamless administration of the same. We would consider all these, looking at a system in the body, that carries out a similar function.
These are chemical substances, that act like messenger molecules in the body. (molecules are small fundamental units of chemical compounds that can take part in chemical reactions).
Growth Hormones are produced by our brain’s pituitary glands and they govern our height, bone length and muscle growth.
FUNCTION OF GROWTH HORMONES
1. It promotes the growth of bone and cartilage.
2. It regulates fat, muscle, tissue and bone in the body.
3. It regulates metabolism such as insulin action and blood sugar levels in the body.
HOW IT RELATES TO THE MINISTRY
“Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people; AND THE LORD KEPT ADDING [TO THEIR NUMBER] DAILY THOSE WHO WERE BEING SAVED [FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH].”
Acts 2:47 AMPC
When it comes to evangelism and the growth of the local assembly, it does not automatically happen, there have to be a system put in place, there have to be events put in place, and there have to be disciplines put in place to encourage and enforce it. Revival of the growth of the church doesn’t happen In a vacuum, it has to be sought after.
I have seen local assemblies that fail woefully in their responsibility of soul-winning and church discipleship, majorly due to the rise of social media and the demands of life, family and society. This has led pastors to be so busy working a secular job, all in the bid of taking care of their families and thereby abandoning their sole responsibility of Evangelism, Follow-Up And Missions. Isn’t this the truth?
How can your church grow without Evangelism, Follow-Up And Missions? I’ll like to show you a few repercussions I have observed when a local assembly is not growing numerically due to the negligence of evangelism, follow up and the seamless flow of new converts, and new faces into the local assembly.
1. Lack of life and vitality during church services I have noticed that once congregants become familiar with themselves, they begin to loathe each other, and the church services become more or less a failed project in the minds of the congregants. This, in itself has a way of weakening the dedication of the members of the church.
