Ministry is based on patience
Ministry isn’t built in a moment — it’s birthed in the quiet strength of patience, Ministry is based on patience.
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us”. Hebrews 12:1 KJV
Ministry is a marathon. Impatience is a sign that you are naive in the track called ministry. Many things you will achieve for the Lord will take years, would take some more years, and if God wants to teach you patience, it will still take some more extra years. This is to show how nothing sustainable can be done in a hurry, Ministry is based on patience.
When I look at the great things Jesus, the Son of the living God, did, I wonder if He could not have just died when He was 12 years old. I wonder if He had to wait that long to have sacrificed Himself for the sins of the world. It is not like He just got to know at age 30 that He was to be a sacrificial lamb. He had known right from the very start, at least from the baptism of John. Even John said:
“The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! [Ex 12:3; Is 53:7]” John 1:29 AMP
Yet, there is something called the fullness of time.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:4-5 ESV
The fullness of time for a pregnancy to be delivered is nine months. There is no amount of fasting, praying, seed sowing, or Rhema that would speed it up. The fullness of time is critical for all parts to work together to make an effective whole.
It is a lack of patience that makes a minister think God has abandoned him in the mission field. It is a lack of patience that causes peer pressure in ministry (which is very common). It is a lack of patience that causes you to be desperate. It is a lack of patience that causes ministers to venture into all sorts of criminal, ungodly, and unethical practices, Ministry is based on patience.
The reason why patience is a fruit, not a gift, is because God would have us develop it. We must understand the rigor of patience, and we must trust God for our own fullness of time.
As I write this chapter, I not only write it to you, but I also write it for myself.
It is impatience that makes ministers run into debt. It is impatience that sometimes allows ministers to marry the wrong spouse.
It is impatience that even made some ministers pioneers of ministries God did not allow.
A lot of evil will come from impatience. In this race, patience is the key, at least one vital key to fulflling your ministry.
