Pitfalls of Seasoned Ministers
As ministers grow in experience and success, a hidden danger lurks ( Pitfalls of Seasoned Ministers)—one that has trapped even the most anointed servants of God. It’s not obvious like immorality or greed, yet it quietly erodes spiritual vitality. What is this subtle sin, and how can you guard against it? Keep reading to uncover the truth that every seasoned believer must confront.
You’re hopeless, you religion scholars! YOU TOOK THE KEY OF KNOWLEDGE, but instead of unlocking doors, you locked them. YOU WON’T GO IN YOURSELF, AND WON’T LET ANYONE
ELSE IN EITHER.” (MSG) Luke 12:52
The reason why the Pitfalls of Seasoned Ministers is a sin associated with ministers who feel or think they are aged in the ministry, more experienced in ministry affairs or successful according to the ministerial standards they adopt because by observation, relationship and experience with these sets or categories of God’s servant, most of them despise, avoid and sometimes completely reject or relegate opportunities to acquire knowledge through attending teaching conferences, buying books or listening to expository audio or video messages.
They will tell you they have seen it all, there is no new knowledge. They have read all the books they need to read, they have all the anointing they want to have and they have reached their success target that used to motivate them when they were younger.
This is indeed pathetic. Jesus encountered such religious individuals who were bible scholars and aged rabbis in his time, he got frustrated about their disinterest in knowledge, their dislike for acquiring knowledge and their avoidance of anything or anyone who tried to introduce materials that contain knowledge. They claim they are too old, too successful for such stress. The Pitfalls of Seasoned Ministers is a grievous sin that could end one’s ministry if you don’t repent and if you decide to emulate such character, habit and practice.
Some people even claim ignorance is bliss, well, ignorance is judgment in God’s kingdom. Ignorance is captivity in the kingdom of darkness. Ignorance is an act of responsibility in service or in the art of Christian ministry.
Ignorance is a big and unfortunate sin. Consider what the Lord says concerning priests who prefer, adopt and continue to remain ignorant, abhor knowledge and chase away people who carry such gifts.
A priest should know God’s teaching. People should be able to go to a priest and learn God’s teachings. A priest should be the Lord’s messenger to the people. YOU DON’T LIVE THE WAY I TOLD YOU, YOU HAVE NOT ACCEPTED MY TEACHING SO I WILL CAUSE PEOPLE TO HATE AND THINK YOU ARE WORTH NOTHING”. (ERV) Malachi 2:7 and 9
Not seeking after knowledge could bring an end to your ministry. Not buying materials such as books, audio and
video messages can be one reason for your ministerial stagnation. Not attending school of ministries, conferences
and seminars that could educate you more will bring the harsh curse of judgment on you. These curses are
1. BEEN CONTEMPTIBLE: The dictionary defines this as:
· Been worthless
· Not deserving any respect at all
· Not worthy of approval
· Deserving blame.
All these just because you reject knowledge. Imagine people treating not just you but your church and ministry this way, it will not grow, if it has grown and will begin to diminish. I plead with you to repent and love knowledge.
2. BEEN BASE: The dictionary defines this as, The bottom of anything When the scripture says and you confess after it as you will be the head and not the tail. However, if you have rejected knowledge you are only fooling yourself. You will be based not above. The solution is to begin to seek after knowledge.
3. HATRED: People and members will not like you as their pastor. Your workers will not respect you as their leaders, Your contemporary will ignore your presence when it comes to time for educated discussions. Onlookers will make the jest of your sermon, because you are often heard misquoting a bible verse.
4. PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU ARE NOTHING: Once this four judgment comes in you, because you refuse to seek after knowledge, you would have used your own hands to end and disgracefully ruin your ministry.
My question for you is: is it worth it?
