A Short  Glance At How Not To Be Like Satan

“Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.” Jeremiah 26:13 KJV
There have been times when I’ve spoken with individuals in my ministry about their misbehavior. They would apologize, and one would have expected that to be the end of those awful attitudes right then and there. I was wrong. It seemed to become a cycle of misbehaving, apologizing, and then returning to the misbehavior.
However, an apology should, and is expected to, go beyond mere words. It should signify something deeper, more personal, and decisive. When someone says ‘sorry’ about something, the person they are apologizing to—even if it is God—should have the trust and confidence that this conversation regarding the same sin, fault, or wrongdoing will not happen again.
The scripture above hints at the nature of repentance: to AMEND YOUR WAYS AND DOINGS. Let’s delve deeper into this matter by considering a different Bible version.”
“Change the way you’re living, CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOUR. Listen obediently to the Message of your God.” Jeremiah 26:13 MSG
Changing your behavior means we don’t have to wait until forever for your wrong attitudes to change; you can change NOW.
We don’t want to keep hearing you say, “I am working on it.” Just change your way of doing things or thinking. Changing your lifestyle means we are not going to revisit your misbehavior due to your inability to repent.
You know there are some people—have you ever had a situation like that—where I would be praying and asking God to forgive me for a specific sin, and yet there I am, right then, still asking God for His forgiveness, while still fantasizing, probably even planning to go and commit the very same sin I was just confessing and asking forgiveness for?
This is surely a sign of unrepentance. It simply shows that it is not deeply rooted; it is a surface-level apology. I have not changed my lifestyle nor my behavior.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes change your relationships.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes change your environment.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes stop certain routines.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes stop certain communications.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes block certain contacts on your phone or social media accounts.
To change your lifestyle is to sometimes move on from certain pleasures or infatuations.
This is a serious issue and deserves seriousness.
You cannot claim to be repentant if you still keep in touch with your ungodly relationships. You cannot claim to be repentant if you still continue to chat with corrupt communicators. Repentance must encompass not only a sincere apology but a change of lifestyle and behavior. If these two elements haven’t changed, it is safe to say such individuals are not yet repentant.
“yet I am glad now, not because you were hurt and made sorry, BUT BECAUSE YOUR SORROW LED TO REPENTANCE [AND YOU TURNED BACK TO GOD]; for you felt a grief such as God meant you to feel, so that you might not suffer loss in anything on our account.” 2 Corinthians 7:9 AMP
