Silencing Dissenting Voices
“When the enemy raises voices of opposition, God back us up in Silencing Dissenting Voices that rises against His purpose.”
WHEN DAVID’S time to die was near, he ” charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth. Be strong and show yourself a man; You know also what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of I
Israel, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether, whom he murdered, avenging in time of peace blood shed in war, and putting innocent blood of war on the girdle on his loins and on the sandals of his feet. Do therefore according to your wisdom, but let not his hoary head go down to Sheol (the place of the dead) in peace.
But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite and let them be among those who eat at your table; for with such kindness they met me when I fled because of Absalom your brother. [II Sam. 17:27-29.] And you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan [on my return], and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put you to death with the sword. So do not hold him guiltless; for you are a wise man and know what you should do to him. His hoary head bring down to the grave with blood. So David slept with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.”
1 Kings 2:1-2, 5-10 (AMPC)
A Dissenting Voice is showing, having or expressing opinions that are different from those officially decided or acceptable. Dissenting voices are the voice of grumbling, protest, accusation, rebellion and defiance. These voices, if allowed can hinder, cripple or slow down your quest to take your God-given territory.
In our opening verse, King David in giving a final charge to his son and new king, gave pertinent advice that had the power to establish the kingdom in his hands. This instruction is to silence contrary voices, the voice of opposition, the voice of insubordination, the voice of coup de tat. This is a very serious issue.
In our fight to take territories, we must recognize both spiritual and physical personalities whose voices contradict, oppose and limit our quest to take territories and work against them by Silencing Dissenting Voices. Remember ;
“There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.”
1 Corinthian 14:10 (KJV)
Every voice has a personality behind it. Every voice has an agenda
If you are going to take territories, I’ll advise you to notice what kind of voices you have around you, are they voices that encourage you to believe God for the impossible?, Are they voices that encourage you to take God at his word? Or voices intimidating you, questioning your faith, harassing your peace and destroying your labor? Identify them and work against them by Silencing Dissenting Voices.
There are 5 examples of dissenting voices I’d like us to consider.
“NOW THE serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden? [Rev. 12:9-11.] And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden, Except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden.
God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. But the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die, [II Cor. 11:3.] For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.”
Genesis 3:1-5 (AMPC)
We see the first voice of contradiction, opposition, manipulation, defiance and rebellion in the garden. The question is whose voice was speaking these things?, Satan!. He is the main opposer of God and everything he stands for.
Here, Satan is trying to get Eve to go against the voice of God. To question the genuineness of the voice of God, Satan wanted Eve to begin to doubt the sincerity of the voice of God. Consider the questions he asked;
Can it be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?. But the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die, [II Cor. 11:3.] For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.”
If you notice carefully, you will see that all Satan tried to do was to bring doubts and mistrust into the heart and mind of Eve, so she will begin to question, fear and go against everything God has told her. This is the aim of dissenting voices, to get to a place or position where you lack confidence in the voice, leadership and direction of God and those he puts over you to help you along the way.
2. Jesus in the wilderness.
“Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to strenuously, having in mind to prevent Him, saying, It is I who have a need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me? And when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, THE HEAVENS WERE OPENED, AND HE [JOHN] SAW THE SPIRIT OF GOD DESCENDING LIKE A DOVE AND ALIGHTING ON HIM. AND BEHOLD, A VOICE FROM HEAVEN SAID, THIS IS MY SON, MY BELOVED, IN WHOM I DELIGHT!” Matthew3:13-14, 16-17 (AMPC)
”THEN JESUS was led (guided) by the [Holy] Spirit into the wilderness (desert) to be tempted (tested and tried) by the devil. And He went without food for forty days and forty nights, and later He was hungry. AND THE TEMPTER CAME AND SAID TO HIM, IF YOU ARE GOD’S SON, command these stones to be made [loaves of] bread. But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. [Deut. 8:3.]
Then the devil took Him into the holy city and placed Him on a turret (pinnacle, gable) of the temple sanctuary. And he said to Him, IF YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD, throw Yourself down; for it is written, He will give His angels charge over you, and they will bear you up on their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”
Matthew 4:1-6(AMPC)
This is another interesting observation to consider.
Here Jesus the son of God, came face to face with the father of dissenting voices; Satan, the opposer of God.
Once again he came after one thing and that is the voice of God. Jesus, right after his baptism heard God say and affirm publicly that he (Jesus) is the son of God and that Father-God is pleased with him. Right after that declaration, Satan rushed into the scene and all he came against was:
If You are God’s Son,
If You are the Son of God
Questioning and opposing the voice of God Jesus heard and trying to get Jesus to doubt his identity and his mission on earth. If Jesus could encounter a dissenting voice coming from the father of dissenting voices, how much more you?.
