Spiritual Diseases That Weaken The Church
“Just as physical diseases weaken the body, there are unseen Spiritual Diseases That Weakens The Church and silently drain the strength of the Church — can you recognize them?”
“The labor of fools wearies every one of them, because [HE IS SO IGNORANT OF THE ORDINARY MATTERS THAT] HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO GET TO TOWN.”
Ecclesiastes 10:15 AMPC
When it comes to the ministry, we mustn’t forget, the WORK that comes behind MINISTRY. Ministry is hard work, but not foolish work. Ministry is hard work, but not ignorant work. Ministry is hard work, but not stupid work. Ministry is hard work, yet smart, intelligent and productive.
1. One of the killers of ministry is when a person runs into ministry with a lot of fire, with a lot of passion and zeal, but no direction, no education and definitely no practical perspective about the nature of the work he is doing. He will definitely fail if care is not taken.
This is the more reason why after you receive the call for ministry, the next thing to do is not to go and start your ministry, but to even understand and study the nature of your call, the specificity of your anointing and the location of your mandate.
Many of us are photocopy ministers, we are too lazy and impatient to blow a unique sound. We are too in a rush and too attracted to trending voices, that rather than dig deep into God’s heart for our ministry, we become like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and start sounding other people’s sounds. How pathetic. This is primarily the first Spiritual Diseases That Weakens The Church.
Some others are too traditional, and once they perceive the call of God, all they do is limit it to the functionality of the local assembly. This too, is too cheap and even a bigger reason why ministry doesn’t flourish in the long haul. The Apostle Paul, once he heard the call of God, didn’t take up an assumptious position, he, rather went straight to the lord of the calling and asked specific questions as to the:
a. Nature of the call.
b. The people groups of the call.
c. The specificity of the anointing, and;
d. The type of message he was to proclaim.
It is still one lord and one church, yet, it became his gospel because he took his time to receive it. If you are confused, or unsure, how well can you represent your call effectively?
Recently, I noticed the impute of an evangelist on the numerical salvation and growth that happens for the local church and within the local church. I found out that basically, God might have called the set man to be a teacher, yet, he has a basic duty towards soul winning, but this does not necessarily translate into having people join his church or become members of his ministry. He would one day need the ministry of the EVANGELIST. There are some, who are called PASTOR-TEACHER. This set man is likely to be more productive in church work and administration, eventually leading to the growth of the local church (if all things been equal). Why is that the case?
