The Church Is The Body Of Christ
“We are not just members — we are one body, united in Christ for His purpose, The Church Is The Body Of Christ”
Structure is most effective and efficient when it is designed to follow or aid the overall callings, mandate and anointing of the servant of Christ, the set man, and the local assembly.
“A body isn’t really a body, unless there is more than one part. He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others. If one part of our body hurts, we hurt all over. If one part of our body is honored, the whole body will be happy. Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body.”
1 Corinthians 12:19, 25-27 CEV
A ministry must recognize that without proper consideration of all things and all purposes and all graces, with its respective challenges that could come hitherto, the ministry will someday come to a halt. Why? No consideration for systems and structure. No overall estimation that it’s not one part that is the church, all parts must work efficiently to make it a living church of Jesus Christ, The Church Is The Body Of Christ.
This is why, after the effect of sin in the life of a minister and the ministry, the next death that could easily cripple the work that has a promising future is, “A LACK OF STRUCTURE AND PROPER SYSTEM”. We started considering a part of it in the previous chapter part, we will continue to consider a few more in this part.
We looked at the skeletal system, as the system put in place to give structure to the work God has committed into your hands. Without structure,
1. There is no stability.
2. There is no strength.
3. There is no shape.
4. There is no organization.
5. There is no mobility.
6. There can be no measuring yard for growth.
Now let’s consider another determinant to your ministry living and not dying.
THE SPINAL CORD
The spinal cord is a long bundle of nerves and cells, that carries signals between the brain and body.
FUNCTIONS
1. Control of the body’s movement and functions.
2. Reports sense to the brain.
3. Manages reflexes.
HOW IT RELATES TO THE MINISTRY.
As you put in some layer of structure in your ministry, it can become dangerous later on without allowance or allocation of a spinal cord. In this case, the spinal cord represents FLEXIBILITY, MOBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY and MANAGEMENT.
Once a ministry is too rigid to change, too rigid to improve, it is bound to start deteriorating. We must contend for the word. The word of God is our anchor. The word of God is like a rock. The word of God is like a hammer. The word of God is like fire. The word of God is like a seed . The word of God is like a lamp. The word of God is like a sword.
Yet, that is the word of God. The Scripture tells us to contend for it, not against it. However, that’s the word of God, every other thing, can always be reviewed, changed, improved, adjusted or even deleted.
This is the sole purpose of flexibility. In ministry, circumstances change, people change, times change and most of all, the ministry is confronted with potential growth. I have seen the ministry lose their wit, because they became too attached to their systems, that it eventually crippled their ministry.
