Let Your Ministry Live
A ministry that lives is one that breathes purpose, ignites souls, and multiplies without measure, Let Your Ministry Live.”
“Now these things befell them by way of a figure [as an example and warning to us]; they were written to admonish and at us for right action by good instruction, we in whose days the ages have reached their climax (their consummation and concluding period).”
1 Corinthians 10-11 AMPC
Let Your Ministry Live, let not your men be few is not just a prayer relevant in the days of the Bible or peculiarly connected to Reuben alone. In fact, he is an example for us to take heed lest we fall victim to the same curse.
There are many things that could make a ministry die and render its God-given men small, useless and powerless. In this chapter and the following, we will be discussing about them. My advice as we begin is:
“Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing arm], take heed lest he fall [into sin].” 1 Corinthians 10:12 AMPC
I remember recently I was invited as a guest speaker to teach at a big church in Lagos, I was quite reluctant to accept the invite, however, because the pastor inviting me was and has been a very supportive partner of our ministry, I was advised by my team to honor his invitation. The day came, and when I and an associate pastor of mine got to Lagos, immediately I stepped out of the vehicle, I felt this great weight of depression caused by memories of people I had preached to, interacted with, helped in one way or the other, accommodated into my house and life, and who eventually left me in a sad, disappointing, rebellious and problematic manner. Let Your Ministry Live.
As I turned to my left and my right, I could not escape the thought of knowing that I once had a thriving ministry in Lagos, with hundreds of people attending my meetings regularly. I could not stop the pain of remembering that I once had several branches, working branches, promising branches in this city.
I wanted to run back into the bus, I wanted to disappear from this great city that had almost swallowed my effort for about a decade. It wasn’t easy honoring that invitation, I could not avoid the streets I evangelized in, the people I prayed for passionately, and I could not stop myself from remembering the houses of members I visited. Even at that, I still saw a few individuals, who greeted me as they passed by. It wasn’t easy responding to them, it was difficult saying hello back to them, Let Your Ministry Live.
The thought of failure surged through my mind, it rushed and gave me goose bumps, I had nowhere to run to, in order to avoid the disappointment and shame. I had no one to call who could understand my plight and encourage me.
This was the beginning of the voice of God in my heart whispering, LET REUBEN LIVE AND NOT DIE, LET NOT HIS MEN BE FEW. LET YOUR MINISTRY LIVE AND NOT DIE, LET NOT YOUR MEN BE FEW.
