Paul’s two letters to timothy are known as the pastoral epistles because they deal with the life of the Church. At the time they were written, the church had been in existence for about thirty years and the apostles were passing away. It was therefore necessary to think not only of the changing leadership of the church, but also of how the church should be ORGANIZED. So Paul wrote to give the Church leaders GUIDANCE on how to ADMINISTER the Church for which they were responsible. Paul constant stress on the importance of sound teaching should remind us of the critical IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING AND TRAINING IN OUR CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES TODAY.
